Blue Peter Book I Couldn’t Put Down: (2pm Saturday 20 March, Christ Church Dining Hall, Oxford)
7-12s Three books were shortlisted this year in Blue Peter’s ‘Book I Couldn’t Put Down’ category, and all three authors are appearing here in the setting for Hogwarts hall to talk about their shortlisted books.
School visits
I am very happy to visit primary schools (Key Stage 2) and secondary schools (Year 7).
I can:
- read from my books
- talk about how I started out and how I develop my ideas, bringing along material such as original notebooks, annotated drafts and proof copies
- take a question and answer session
- talk about my day-to-day life as a writer
- explain how I found my agent and publisher
- share useful advice
- direct creative writing workshops, to include story-starting exercises, techniques to engage the reader and tips for believable characters and strong action. By the end of the session, you should come away with the germ of a story which can be developed later.
I can also tailor the above for library visits and bookshops.
