The north side of the Berlin wall, Exit 3

    "harriet43" Says:

OK Harry, that’s fine. Good to have an Exit outside the UK at last, though I take it you mean the ex-Berlin wall?

    "harriet43" Says:

Hi Katie – so glad you’re enjoying the book. And also that your whole family is queueing up to read it! Weston Road High School would appear to be a very busy visiting area – I think we had better number all these alternative ways up to the Other Side as Exit 42a, 42b and 42c.

    "Anita" Says:

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Cameron,
Yes, that’s fine. I think it’ll have to be slightly to one side of the gate, where no one actually walks, otherwise there’d be people falling down into the Underworld all the time. We’ll have Exit 95 as agreed too in the Prees graveyard (very convenient for Novices like Jessie coming up to find out about their relatives).

Hello Daniel, Yes, that’s a good one. But whereabouts in the back garden exactly?

    "brodie gardiner" Says:

The Exit I am talking about is the one under the slab in the Boldmere Junior School field – number 5455.

    "Katie" Says:

    Hi Harriet
It’s Katie (from the bookclub) from Boldmere Juniors. Don’t forget Exit 4000 at the corner of the Peace Garden.
    Hope to see you soon
    bye

    "Catherine" Says:

    Hi Harriet
    I LOVE YOUR BOOK!
I like writing loads. I do it all the time and I love reading too. Your book was so descriptive and it’s the way I like to write! I think the place in Pinkneys Green Wood where a plane crashed in the second world war would be a good Exit. There is a memorial stone which could be the entrance and please can it be Exit number 2?

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Leah,
If I were you I would keep a diary, read lots and lots of books and write stories. That really is the best advice I can give. That way you will just get better and better and better!

    "harriet43" Says:

Thanks David – I love that suggestion!

    "harriet43" Says:

Excellent, James – that will be added to the list.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Thanks Katie – you’re a star!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Dear Catherine,
I really like that idea – in fact I think it’s FANTASTIC! I will get it added to the list when it’s next updated. So glad you love the book, and it’s great that you enjoy writing so much. Have you tried writing a whole book yet?! Keep in touch!

    "Catherine" Says:

I have written stories that I have finished but I’m not sure any of them are long enough to be classified as a book. I did get into the final of a story compition in year 5 but I like doing it for fun. How long did it take you to write The Boy Who Fell Down Exit 43?

    "harriet43" Says:

Catherine – the very best way to write is for fun. Writing MUST be fun, or else there’s no point. It can be very hard work, but you must never lose the love of it. EXIT 43 took about eight months to write (first draft).

    "abigail" Says:

    Dear Harriet,
On 22nd February u came to bjs (boldmere junior school) and u stopped and signed your book “the boy who fell down exit 43″. It was an honour meeting you. Quick question: do they have to be real exits or can they be made up? Sorry if my spelling isn’t that good – I am not much of a great speller.
    Abi

    "Reece Amiss" Says:

Hey Harriet if you`ve not got this Exit, try Exit 700.

    "george adderley boldmere js" Says:

Hi Harriet, I have got a good Exit. It’s called Exit 3945. It is in the river in Sutton Park under the bridge. Oh, and I really love “Exit 43″!

    "harriet43" Says:

Abi – your spelling is excellent! You can make up the Exits, that’s fine! They need to be really off the beaten track though – and remember YOU CANNOT HAVE ONE IN THE STAFFROOM!!!!!

    "harriet43" Says:

Hi Reece. Exit 700 is fine, but where exactly is it?

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hello George,
The solidified spirits will get pretty wet if they have to come up through a river. And remember they are terrified of water. Maybe the river bank instead? What do you reckon?

    "george adderley boldmere js" Says:

    Yeah – OK. Thanx

    "abigail" Says:

OK – shame we can’t use the staffroom. Exit 52 – outside my school where a stump of a tree is. Just behind there. Good job my spelling is good..I would have felt like an idiot!!! Abi

    "jake" Says:

How about Exit 93 by the bush?

    "Reece Amiss" Says:

Exit 700 is behind a tree.

    "katie" Says:

    Hi,
I have read your amazing great book and I love it. I can’t wait for your next book to come out.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Jake,
Yes, that’s fine – but by which bush and where?! Where’s the nearest town or village?

    "harriet43" Says:

OK, Reece. But where exactly is this tree? Near a town or in a village maybe? Somewhere we have heard of?

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Katie,
Thanks for your lovely message. The second book is out in January 2011. It is a great adventure story and I reckon you will love it!

    "Martha BJS 6D" Says:

    Hi Harriet.
You came to my school on the first day after half term. I hope you enjoyed yourself. I have thought of an Exit and it’s at a really big bump in the pavement of Cofield Road where my school is. Hi Abigail, you know who I am (your best friend)!
Harriet, I really want to be an author when I’m older, any tips?

    "Martha BJS 6D" Says:

    Hi again Harriet,
I forgot to put in my last message that the Exit is called Exit 1 million. I dont know how many zeros it’s got.
    Martha :)

    "abigail" Says:

    Dear Harriet
I cannot wait for your second book and neither can my friend. I write books as well but I haven’t got them good enough to be published yet. I have an Exit number – 1231 in St Michael’s Church graveyard.
    Abi xxx

    "harriet43" Says:

That’s great, Martha. A million has got six zeros in it! Hope your friends don’t fall down Exit 1,000,000 at Visiting Hour…As far as tips go, keep a diary and read, read, read!!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Abi
If you keep writing you will get there in the end. Just don’t give up!

    "Nicholas rushe" Says:

I was at St Peters today and I think that there is a new Exit in my back garden, which is 26,934.

    "Nicholas rushe" Says:

I was at St Peters, Solihull today and there is an Exit behind the astroturf pitch.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Nicholas,
Both these Exits sound great. What number is the one behind the astroturf pitch? I loved coming to your school today.

    "louie" Says:

Hi, I’m Louie and Exit 3000 is in St Peter’s, Solihull.

    "John Michael" Says:

Exit 2105 – behind the hut.

    "John Michael" Says:

Exit 2105 Behind the Bullring, Birmingham.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Thanks, Louie. That’s great.

    "harriet43" Says:

John – thanks for your Exit number. I did two schools today, so you’ll have to tell me which one you are from please!

    "harriet43" Says:

Hi again, John. Let’s stick to Exit 2105 as the one behind the Bullring. You’ll need to give me a different number for the hut Exit.

    "Jimmy" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
Loving the book, you came to my school (St Peters,Solihull). Exit 2302 -Times Square, New York, outside TOYS R US!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Jimmy,
Perfect – I love it! Hope a whole load of tiny kids don’t fall down into the Underworld coming out of TOYS R US!

    "Jimmy" Says:

    Let’s hope not! :)

    "abigail" Says:

    Harriet
This is the same Abi. Perhaps if I write a story up and send it off to you to read? Please say yes.
    Abi
    xxxx

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Abi,
That would be a bit difficult, as I would have to do the same for everybody and then I wouldn’t have any time to write more stories. BUT I often do creative writing classes when I come into schools, so maybe one day I could come back to your school and take a creative writing class with you in it?

    "kaiya" Says:

I absolutely love your book. I’ve read the first page and fainted. My Exit number is 7,890,432 and the place is right in the corner of an abandoned house in Credenhill, Herefordshire.

    "katie bosley" Says:

    Hi,
You came to our school today, St Mary’s Primary, Credenhill. I want loads of cheese tonight so I can have a dream like yours. Also I will write the dream down like you did. I want your book NOW.
    Katie xxx

    "Juliette" Says:

    Hello,
I am from Stretton Sugwas School. We want Exit number 33 and we also want it in the Stretton Sugwas church graveyard under the hedge that runs around the side of the church.

    "Juliette" Says:

I WAS JUST THINKING THERE SHOULD BE AN EXIT IN BRIGHTON.
JUST BEHIND THE CLOTHES IN HENNYS AT CHURCHILL SQUARE (SHOPPING CENTRE) -
    EXIT NUMBER 9.

    "Juliette" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
Under the Eiffel Tower in France!!!
    Exit 32,145
It actually looks like an Exit plus it has the number 32,145 on it (something to do with the water).

    "harriet43" Says:

That’s a fantastic Exit number, Kaiya. Really creepy!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hello Katie,
Hope you have a great dream tonight. Don’t forget to put a piece of paper by the side of your bed so you can write in down in the morning! I will get the books to you all as soon as possible.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Dear Juliette,
Totally brilliant Exit numbers and locations. Thank you! I have also replied to the other message you left on a different part of this website.

    "abigail" Says:

    Dear Harriet,
That would be great!!!!! Although I am in yr 6 at the moment and in a few months will be secondary school.
    Abi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Abi,
That’s fine – I come to secondary schools to do creative writing classes and talk about the book too!

    "abigail" Says:

    Dear Harriet
That would be great! Me and my friend will be delighted!!
    Abi

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Abi,
You’ll have to get your school (librarian or English teacher, maybe?) to contact me through this website (Contact page).

    "Jimmy" Says:

Hi Harriet, got another exit :)
    EXIT 9882
    The Tower of London
    Traitors Gate

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Jimmy,
    Fantastic. I love it!

    "Gina" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
Here is another Exit – on the point of the heart-shaped island of Galesnjak of Croatia. The island is located in Zadarski Kanal between Zadar and the Island of Pasman and would be the perfect place for Exit 8838.
    Thank you,
    Gina

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Gina,
This Exit is absolutely fantastic. Thank you! I am speaking about the book on Saturday at the Oxford Literary Festival in Christ Church dining hall (where Hogwarts from Harry Potter was filmed) and I shall tell the audience about your Exit. It is one of the best that has been left on this site so far. I got your other message too, but you left it on the Contact Form page (which is for teachers and librarians) rather than the Comments page. Can you resend it so I can answer it on site? x

    "Adam" Says:

Thank you for speaking to us at Woodside School. I think that Exit 10 should be in Oswestry.

    "jordan" Says:

It was very nice of you to come to Woodside School and thank you for telling us about the book. I think Exit 10 should be in the woods by the old hill fort.

"Alex James Woodside Primary School" Says:

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Mikey,
    Brilliant Exit number. Thank you!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Katie,
It would have to be beside a tree, not up it, as the membranes have to be on the surface of the earth. Hope this is OK!

    "harriet43" Says:

    "Mikey" Says:

I’d like to be an author when I grow up. Any tips?
    Mikey x
P.S I really enjoyed your visit to Woodside

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Mikey,
Best tips are to read masses and masses and to keep a diary.

    "Melissa" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
I am Melissa. I think Exit 66 in the park at the bottom of the slide. lots of love from melissa. :) :D

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Melissa,
I’m afraid people would be falling down into the Underworld all the time if we had an Exit here. Could it be in the corner of the park, maybe?

    "Alicia mary Chalmers" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
I am Alicia from Woodside Primary School. I met you today!
I think that you are a great opera singer and fantastic writer!!!
I think Exit 9999 at the back of a graveyard through a secret grave that nobody has ever found. I would love to publish a book but I do not know how to do it and I do not think I am old enough because I am only 8.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Dear Alicia,
It is never too young to start writing. Don’t worry about the publishing bit right now. That can all come later. Just read, read, read…and keep a diary, so that you are writing at least something every day. Good luck and keep in touch!

    "Alicia mary Chalmers" Says:

    "bradley" Says:

What about Exit 63 and how did you get the idea 43?

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Bradley,

    "Jimmy" Says:

    Yo Harriet :)

    Exit 663
    Alcatraz Island
    Cell 74
I came up with a bit of backstory for this exit…

On 19 April 1959, Bob ‘Knuckles’ Carr dissapeared from his cell, number 74. He returned 2 days later claiming to have fallen through the surface of the earth. A warden, who believed he had seen hooded figures leaving the island beleived Bob. They were both ‘punished’ and were never heard from again…

    "Jimmy" Says:

Harriet, does this sound like a good book??? I’m writing it, so it would be cool to have your advice!

    Dr Justice!

It’s a dark superhero action comedy.

Set in an alternate New York, the story follows vigilante Dr Justice. When terrorist group ASDA (NOT THE SHOP!) set off a nuclear bomb at Justice’s last known location, he is framed for a terrorist act he didn’t commit. Now a wanted criminal, can he and his last remaining follower’s stop ASDA’s reign of terror and prove a country wrong?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks an ASDA

    Jimmy!

    "rachel paterson" Says:

My Exit number would be 67 because that’s how old my grandad was when he died.

    "rachel paterson" Says:

Oh yeah and my exit would be under the park bench.

    "Poppy" Says:

I think exit number 5868 is behind the snow fort on Port Meadow in Oxford – now that the snow has melted no one will know where it is. Bet a lot of snowballs went down it, some thrown by me! I enjoyed your talk at the literary festival today.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Dear Ben,
That is a mega-Exit number. Hope it doesn’t fall off the website!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Jimmy,
This has all the makings off a great story. Just get it written down! Which school are you from?

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Archie,
I think both your Exit ideas are fabulous. It was great meeting you yesterday at the Ox Lit Fest. Perhaps one day I can come to your school and talk about the book/work with some of you. Your teachers can get in touch with me via this website.

    "katie bosley" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
Remember me? My dream was about a dog I saw in the magazine. Have you had another dream lately?. Could you look on this website please http://www.kestrel.co.uk because my mum is on there.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Katie,
I do remember you and I love the website you directed me to. Did you know there is a fantastic poem about this kind of bird called “The Windhover” by someone called Gerard Manley Hopkins? It might sound a bit weird and wild when you first read it, but when you’ve got used to it, you’ll see it is a very, very beautiful poem. Oh, and I have strange dreams all the time, I’m afraid!

    "abigail" Says:

    Dear Harriet
I will try to when I get to secondary school, although it depends whether you will be able to and whether the school will let us have you there (you know what they are like!)
    Abi

    "harriet43" Says:

    OK, Abi! That’s cool.

    "katie bosley" Says:

Hi Harriet, it’s me. Maybe you could do a book about a boy who got lost because his mum went to the shops and someone came into the house and took the boy?

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Katie,
That sounds a really creepy idea for a book. I like it! I am working on two other things at the moment though – one is dark and scary, the other is kind of magical.

    "Jimmy" Says:

    Hi Harriet :)

I’m from St Peter’s! When you came in: BEST. TWO HOURS. EVER!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Jimmy,
Thanks a lot! Looks like I might be coming back next year too – to talk about the second book, which will be out by then – and also hopefully to do some creative writing with some of you.

    "Jimmy" Says:

Harriet, if you like I could send you the Prologue via the Contact page, it’s called: The Death of Society
    Jimmy

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Jimmy,
Take it into the library at school and they will send it on to me.

    "Jimmy" Says:

    FABTASTIC!

I AM NOW OFFICIALLY YOUR BIGGEST FAN!

    "katie bosley" Says:

I am reading a magical book right now about when a boy lost his shoe lace and then he found another one and all his wishes came true.
I would love to hear more about your magical story. I am going to Hollywood soon and I am going to take the laptop so I can tell you all about it while I am there. I am going to a restaurant where all the stars go (I can’t wait).
We’re also going to look for some stars. It is going to be great fun – also the bathrooms in the hotel have a TV. The hotel has a theme park. We have got the best hotel anyone can have.

    "katie bosley" Says:

    Dear Harriet,
I would like to asked some questions.
What’s it like to be an author? Is it scary?
How many books have you written?
    Do you become very famous?
Have you ever written a story about dogs? – because I love them.
    What was your first book?
How much money do you earn?
    Do you like your job?
    xx

    "mikayla" Says:

    Dear Harriet,
The Exit is on Albermale Road on the green and the number is 500.

    "Lilli" Says:

Exit 99. I think that would be a very good one :)

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Lilli,
Whereabouts is this Exit 99 exactly? You need to think of a location.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Katie,
Have a really great time! And to answer some of your questions, being an author is fabulous and not at all scary! No, I haven’t yet written a story about a dog, but there will be a most extraordinary cat in my third book. Sometimes authors get famous – sometimes not. It doesn’t really matter – what matters is that you enjoy it and that you bring enjoyment to your readers.

    "Bethany" Says:

Hi Harriet – Exit 777 at St John Fisher Catholic College.

Yup – I like that one!

    "Lilli" Says:

Sorry, I didn’t think of a location. I think the location should be in an unknown haunted mansion.

    "gavin" Says:

    Hi Harriet,

    "harriet43" Says:

    Tom,
I love the idea of an Exit being at the Ashmolean, but it will need to be at ground floor level. Can you come up with a particular room or corner?

    "abigail" Says:

    Hi Harriet
(same Abi here) I thought of an Exit – number 53, St Michaels Church. Just outside (in Boldmere) by the gate and to the side.

Mr Hitman- A shady hitman, who is wanted in 29 countries!

Uncle Sam- A cigar smoking war machine! Uses a flamethrower and butterfly knife, based loosely off ‘THE COMEDIAN’ from watchmen

and the baddie is: DR DIABOLICAL! A disfigured lunatic! Also has a hidden love of cross dressing!

Exit number 86,547 – Supreme Court of Australia

    "Caroline" Says:

Hi! When you came to talk to the fourth grade at ISA I found a good exit place. Behind the school gates in the forest that is rarely visited. Thanks for the creative writing workshop by the way. I love your book too and I started writing my own short creative story with the Character Questionaire! :)

    "Sung woo" Says:

    Hi,
    Exit 44 in Amsterdam Street.

    "sean plunkett" Says:

I am Sean from ISA. I think that we could have an Exit numbered 148 behind a tree on a canal.

    "sean plunkett" Says:

Also thank you for coming to our school on Thursday!!!

    "Lucy" Says:

    Hi Harriet ,
I’m Lucy from ISA you came to talk to us today, I loved it. Here is an Exit – Exit 1218 – in the old shed, 13 Martin Ave, Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand.
I think this would be the perfect place for an Exit
    From Lucy

    "Vartika" Says:

I wonder if there is any Exit in the basement of the Arena theater, in Amsterdam. If no then I would like to make one which is Exit 14.

    "Kate" Says:

    Dear Harriet,
Exit 867,534 behind the statue of Zeus in Olympia, Greece.
    Many thanks,
    Kate :)

    "harriet43" Says:

    Thanks, Abi. That’s great!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Gabriel,
    I love your Exit number!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Caroline,
Thanks for your message! It was so great coming to see you all at the ISA. Keep in touch!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Sung woo,
That’s great. Thanks for the Exit number. It was great to meet you!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Sean,
That’s great! Just so long as the Woken Dead don’t actually come up through the water, then that’s fine!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Lucy,
What a fabulous place for an Exit. Thank you!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Vartika,
That’s a great place for an Exit. Thank you!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Kate,
That has got to be one of my favourite Exit suggestions so far! Thank you SO much!

    "Mikey" Says:

Exit 38. Top of Great Wall of China.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Mikey!
Exit 38 is in the London Dungeons. How about Exit 37?

    "Erik" Says:

I would like an Exit called
“Exit 43.5″ and it should be in the Netherlands-Amstelveen-tram and bus station “Portwachter.”

    "Martin" Says:

    Exit 666
Denmark-Billund-the most south part of Legoland.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Erik,
Great Exit number. Thanks very much!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hello Martin,
I will get this added to the list!

    "Erik K." Says:

    Exit 0.5
Netherlands-Amstelveen-other side of the fence at the big football pitch in ISA.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Erik,
I love this Exit number! Thank you!

    "Kavya" Says:

    Exit 123,456,789

    "James" Says:

    Hi Harriet
You came to our school today and I can’t find our Exit number!!
    It is number 347.
    Thanks,
    James

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi James,
It’ll get added to the list next time my website designer works on the site. Thanks a lot – and it was great to meet you all today!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Kavya,
I love your Exit number – though it will have to be somewhere near the bottom of the ESB, since the Exits obviously work at ground level. Hope this is OK with you!

    "josephine" Says:

    I think Dolau is 999,988,877

    "ellis" Says:

Please please please can you put my Exit number on the website? The number is Exit 1234

    "harriet43" Says:

    Thanks, Josephine. That’s great!

    "harriet43" Says:

Hi Ellis – no problem – great Exit!

    "harriet43" Says:

Brilliant Exit. I love it. Thanks a lot!

    "Charlotte" Says:

    Oops! Mine’s Exit 4!

    "Aisha" Says:

Hi Harriet! You visited today – I was the girl sitting next to Georgie who gave you a ‘Princess Promise’.
Exit 56 behind the Pavilion in Dame Allans.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Thanks Charlotte!

    "harriet43" Says:

Thanks, Aisha! I remember you! And tell Georgie I will keep her Princess Promise cheque forever!!

    "Georgie" Says:

Hey it’s Georgie! You must remember me. It is really good to know you will keep the princess cheque forever. Anyway I am giving you my idea – Exit 36 (my favourite number). Flat bang in the middle of St James Park!
    Bye!
P.S. Thanks for coming to Central and I shall read all your books!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi there Georgie!
It was brilliant to meet you – and yes, I think your dream was even weirder than mine. I am going to tell all my children about the totally mad girl I met in Newcastle-upon-Tyne who has a recurrent dream about a hedgehog-blackbird…

    "Priya" Says:

Exit 34- Hangman’s Woods Elvesdon Manor

    "Priya" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
I was just wondering which 5 exits would you say are the best (by the way I don’t care if it’s not mine!)
    Thx BYE Priya xx

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi again Priya,
No such thing as a best Exit… I just want lots and lots of imaginative suggestions on the site!

    "jenna green" Says:

    Hi again,
I think a good place for another Exit in the North East would be behind the old goal in Hexham (where I live). It is a very spooky place.

    "harriet43" Says:

Jenna – that sounds an excellent place for an Exit.

    "Eleanor" Says:

Hi, I live in Hexham as well and go to the same school as Jenna! I think Hexham would be a great place to have an Exit cos its quite a small town and there’s loads of strange places that you could have Exits!!
I think a good place for an Exit would be at the very bottom corner of the field at our school, Hexham Middle!
    from
    Eleanor

    "milly thearle(woodside)" Says:

My Exit number is number 58, around Measbury Moor behind the trees and over the bridge in the pond!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Eleanor,
Hexham sounds gorgeous. Maybe one day I can come to your school and do a creative writing class with you all? What number Exit do you want the school-field Exit to be?

    "harriet43" Says:

Brilliant, Milly! I love this Exit number!

    "jenna green" Says:

It would be great if you came to our school. I’m sure many of us would enjoy it. Hexham is a brilliant place. There are shops, lovely parks and loads more but the best thing about it is that you are not completely remote. You can just walk for 2 minutes and you are in the countryside. It is the best of both worlds.

    "Priya" Says:

    Hi again Harriet,
    Is this Exit number okay?
Exit 34- Hangman’s Woods, Elvesden Manor.

    "Eleanor" Says:

    Hello again Harriet!
I think our Exit number should be 44 because you don’t seem to have an Exit number 44 and there are four classes in our year at school and there are four years altogether!
    Thanks!
    from Eleanor

    "vlad" Says:

My Exit is 110 which is by an old hill near some shops.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Jenna,
    It sounds GORGEOUS!!!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Priya,
    Sounds fine!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hello Eleanor!
Great Exit number – and a great reason for it too!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Vlad,
That’s fine. But where is the nearest town?

    "Rozita!" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
You came to Central High School the other day. I was one of the girls from Dame Allans. I won one of your posters and came to the NE book awards and got your book signed. I have an idea for another Exit number, Exit number 83 behind the bins at Dame Allans School. You’ll probably remember Georgie who promised to cheer you up if you were sad.

    "jenna green" Says:

Could I change my Exit to being in the dungeon inside the old goal rather than behind and could it be Exit 74 because 7.4 is my form class at school.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Of course, Jenna. No problem!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Dear Rozita,
Thanks for the message. Great Exit number – thanks. Georgie seems to be famous up in the North East! My family all thinks her blackbird-hedgehog dream is very funny!

    "Rebecca" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
I go to the same school as Jenna and Eleanor and I think that a great place for an Exit would be in the market place. I went to the North East Book Awards and it was great to meet you. I would love it if you came into our school. It would be GREAT!!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Rebecca,
Great to hear from you – and I really like your Exit number, though it will have to be a bit tucked away. Hope I can come and do a little North East tour of schools sometime. That would be fab!

    "Rebecca" Says:

Yes, it would have to be tucked away because there are a lot of shops near it and it’s right next to the Abbey. Could it be Exit number 129 please?

    "sam" Says:

Exit number 2 – at Wolves Stadium, The Molinieux.

    "Lillie-Mae" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
You came to my school today Brewood Middle School. Our Exit number was 567 at 36 Oak Road. By the way your book The Boy Who Fell Down Exit 43 is fab. You’re The Best!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi again, Rebecca,
    Yes, that sounds great!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Sam,
    Brilliant! Thanks a lot!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Lillie-Mae,
Thank you for your lovely message and also for your Exit number. I really enjoyed coming to your school today.
PS You have a beautiful name!

    "Gabriel Vanduinen" Says:

I have come up with a new Exit number. How about behind one of the shops on the High Street – Exit 53?

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Gabriel,
    In which town?

    "Krishtina" Says:

    Hi Harriet,
How about Morden Mount Primary School, Lewisham, London? Exit 505

    "Krishtina" Says:

    Forgot to mention!
    Behind the bike shed.

    "harriet43" Says:

Great Exit number, Krishtina. Thanks very much.

    Hi Looby Lou,
That’s a pleasure – great Exit number, by the way!

    "Hamza" Says:

At the bottom of Mount Kilimanjaro.

    "alik432" Says:

    "jenna green" Says:

I asked my english teacher if we could take you up on the offer for you to come to our school and she said yes if the price is not too high. It would be brilliant if you could come so please let us know about the price!!!!!

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Jenna,
I’m sure we can manage to sort something out, but your teacher will first need to get in touch with me via the Contact Details page of my website, so that she and I can communicate directly. Hope to hear from her soon!

    "Ellie" Says:

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Sophie,
I love your Exit location, but the surface IS penetrable twice a day at the Exit membrane, so I think it will have to be in a slightly more tucked away area of Jodrell Bank. Haven’t been there for ages. Must go back soon!

"Kezia and Alishas Mum (krista)" Says:

    Hello Harriet,
Firstly I would like to say thank you for visiting my daughter Kezia’s school in Ludlow, it was most definatley one the moments in her life that she felt inspired, she has a passion for writing and we have stories all over the place, in books, pieces of paper, note pads, I am always findng them…she is right now just 8 years old and everyone that comes into her life give her a different persons view on things, you are one such person that has taught her that dreams can come true especially if you write them down for others to read…I would also like to thank you for inspiring me too, I tend to live my thoughts, feelings and ideas through art, painting and such however I do know there is a book inside me somewhere and hope one day it will just come to me and i will be able to one day have my perspective on the world or even my dreams written down for others to read…I shall be asking Ludlow school if you can come in to do a creative writing session with the children, i hope us mums can come along too…Here’s wishing you a lovely day
    Krista

"Kezia and Alishas Mum (krista)" Says:

Oh and there is a little village by the name of Theale in Berkshire. It is where I was born and brought up. Many happy memories there and both my parents are buried there…there is a spot in the local park, which we called the rec..there is one large tree in the middle of the park and under it a bench, over looking the cricket field of which my dad would play as bowler in the local cricket team, i believe there is an exit just behind that bench that my mum and dad may come up to watch the local children of today play the game, the graveyard to Theale Church is also over looking that same park and I often think I wonder if mum and dad pop up now and then to see what is going on. Maybe an exit is definatley needed to make this easier for them… Thanks Krista

    "harriet43" Says:

    Hi Krista,
So lovely to have a message from a mum on the website – thank you so much. I think your suggestion is fantastic – but you’ll have to come up with a number for the Exit please.

    Hi again Krista,
It’s lovely to know that I have inspired Kezia. I remember her eager little face from Saturday’s event very clearly. Yes, if I come to the school I don’t see why parents shouldn’t come along too – it’d make for a really great session!

    "Mrs Saul" Says:

    Dear Harriet,
Class V are currently enjoying creating their own pictorial maps of The Other Side/ Under World and their own Exit.
We would like to suggest that Exit 12358
is to be found just inside the gate to the meadow opposite Steephill School.
This remains a haven for wildlife and a place where the current pupils enjoy art lessons, nature trails, country dancing and of course fun and games.
We will try our best to be inventive with our competition entries,
    Regards,
    Anne Saul.

    "harriet43" Says:

    Dear Anne,
Thank you so much for your lovely message. I can’t think of a better Exit location and number. I can picture the place exactly, and spent many many happy hours running around there and lying in the sun making daisy chains! I think the Exit will have to be tucked away near the hedge, just so it’s off the beaten track a little! Can’t wait to see the competition entries – my publisher will send them on to me to judge.

The best thing for you to do is to go to the Contact Details page of my website, where you will find two possible ways of contacting my publisher, Stripes. Just tell them about my visit and how much you want a sequel, and if lots of other people do the same thing, then you never know what might happen!

Hello I made an exit up before buut here is a new one:
Exit 12421 It is set place at Baselton woods where people think they see ghosts of people- the story could be that some children went camping for the weekend and they fell into a whole and were reported missing and the story can lead from there. It could be that it is only visible at night and at that exits that is the only time they come out because the sun can kill them because of the type of drink and food they it there which is flammable and sensitive. Sorry if I have wasted but if you have read it thank you for giving up some of your time.

Could we please be Exit 8 (re-class 8)

    "harriet43" Says:

    Dear Mr Clague,
Great to hear from you! Yes, you can definitely choose Exit 8. But you need to decide on an exact location, too. (see above list for ideas!) Really glad you all enjoyed reading EXIT 43, and hope you like the next one (GRAVENHUNGER) as well!

    "Mr Clague" Says:

We have a very old school built in 1932.

There are very deep foundations and a secret passageway under the school which only the caretaker uses to store tables and old play props.

It is covered in cobwebs, very dusty and dark, it would make an excellent Exit 8 I think?

    Kind regards

    Mr Clague & Class 8

    "Anirudh" Says:

    Dear Harriet
    Thanks for replying
I think their doing that because they think it is funny but me and Kyle thought that the spirits could flush their selves in and out of the toilet.

    "Anirudh" Says:

But just in that place there is no water inside the toilet because Fevella is a really poor country in Brazil.

    Hi again Macie,
Thanks for the Exit suggestion – great!

I'd love to hear from you! - Please leave me a comment
