Hiya Harriet, i go to Ocklynge Junior School and I’ve heard all about your nomination, i helped vote for you, (not having read the book.) Because you’ve been shortlisted, we are rnow reading your book, ‘the boy who fell down exit 43′ as an english group, and i am just about to start it. I have high expectations, and i’m sure it will be great.

    Hey harriet,
I loved your presentation today at polesworth, I was sat on the front row. I thought it was very interesting and I thought the idea for gravenhunger was very ‘cool’!
I would also like to say, I am thinking about writing a book, my Idea is a horror story based on a girls called Esther, she lives with her stepmom and she has weird things happen to her for example, a ghost comes into her room at night she lives in a newly built house but before the land was a graveyard! She can see spirits and talk to them! I have no idea how to start it or what to call it! Let me know if you think it’s any good!
    Thanks
    Emily x

  18. Samira says:

    Hi Harriet
I go to an after school english club and we have just finished reading Gravenhunger. I thought it was an amazingly brilliant book, jam packed with excitement, danger and ghosts! A few people in my class thought there was going to be a boat underneath the mound. But I’m still not 100% sure what a garbling is. Could you please tell me more about whatever it is? I hope to hear from you soon.
    Samira, Ocklynge Junior School

  19. harriet43 says:

    Hi Samira,
So glad you have enjoyed the book so much. If you send me your school’s address I’ll send you a poster of the book for your school library. The garblings are the confused, mixed-up gossipings of the villagers, leading to the various stories of what might lie beneath the mound. Hope that helps!

  20. Samira says:

    Hi Harriet,

That would be great! Thank you very much and also for explaining what garblings are.

I'd love to hear from you! - Please leave me a comment
